No one knows more about the dolphin than I - 2022
Ecco the Dolphin, Stephen Gately, Pokémon and whistling: a conversational patchwork of found sound, sonic artworks, performance excerpts and records. ‘No one knows more about the dolphin than I’ is a strand of the ongoing long-distance collaboration between artists Aled Simons (Wales) and Bláithín Mac Donnel (Ireland). Animal mimicry, local legend and anecdote, alternative forms of communication and regional traditions form the basis of this 40-minute playlist. Bláithín and Aled’s practices intersect at a point of informal storytelling, pursuing loose narrative and tangential personal mythology—sometimes familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
This playlist sat alongside Bláithín Mac Donnel: The Snug and Stories. Artists Behind Bars curated by Kitty Finer at The Bomb Factory Art Foundation, London 2022.
